Men’s wedding bands happen to be a relatively recent trend, because earlier in history  men were the owners of their wives or harems  and did not find it essential to wear such symbols of marriage.

These metals are also used in their pure form making them hypoallergenic meaning that they do not trigger allergic reactions with the skin. But these metals are not as precious & exclusive as gold and platinum. 

Gold and Platinum are susceptible to scratches in spite of their high hardness level   Platinum has a higher degree of hardness than gold but is also more expensive. 

Customarily, mens wedding bands have been basic ring type bands but they can also be bejeweled with diamonds or other gemstones of your choice. 

You should also take proper measurement of your finger and match it with the band size for a comfortable fit.  

The Egyptians and the Romans universally believed that a vein from the fourth finger headed directly to the heart and made their women wear the wedding band on the fourth finger which came to be known as the ring finger. 

Even though the theory has since been proven to be incorrect, the wedding band is still worn on the base of the left ring finger with the romantic notion of linking it directly to the heart.
