My main site was hacked!

My world was turned upside down!

oh nooo…

ok…  It wasn’t as bad. Somehow a hacker was able to overwrote the index file for my main site to show the they have hacked my site.

Luckily, this blog was on a subfolder off the main site.

I was able to quickly redirect the site again to the blog.

No sure how they did it. Before, I was using the “Redirect” feature of CPanel. Now I had to code the index page to do a HTML redirect manually. It’s a bit of inconvenience. But hey, whatever…

That sort of reminds me that I really need to update my blog with current information. I just checked, my page rank dropped from a “2″ to a “1″ over the course of two months.

It makes sense thought. I have neglected the site for this long. I had updated the blog only once a month for the last two months. Definitely deserved to have a lower rank.

But you know what. Page rank is such an overrated thing. Without traffic, there won’t be visitors. And without repeat visitors, there’s no use for page rank.

And I have been thinking of doing a newsletter/content look to my main page. I really need to start putting out more information as well as putting out some products of my own for sale.

Hopefully within the next couple of months you will see a whole new face to my site. Stay tuned…

This is really a scary thing but I am still curious to know that why your site was hacked? I have many blogs and I seldom update them due to my nonsense busy schedule. I should take care of it.

    Hi Ed,

Who knows why people do what they do! I’m guessing that someone has lots of time on their hands and decides to mess up my site.

Yeah, I would recommend at least check once a month to make sure nothing has happened to any of your sites. I was surprised to see that “hacked” message when I browse to my site.

    Bodyc,

Boston, USA. You? I gather you must be from China or Tiwan seeing everything is in Chinese on your site. I can read Chinese. Seeing how you just post news links, how’s that helping you?
