Check these out:
Games 1 just finished with the underdog Boston Celtics took a 1-0 lead. One for the Greens.
What Hype! The media has certainly hyped the first game – they even have Larry Bird and Magic Johnson in multiple interviews. And most analysts sided with the Lakers – ignoring the best team this season – in the East no less.
After 21 years absense in the NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics finally made it this year. With the big trade this past Summer, there were high expectations of this team. Being a Boston Celtics follower since the 1980s, I have watched the Bird and Magic match ups. Those were the days – even better than the Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls. We are talking about two teams that redefined the game of Basketball!
How can you argue how good the Celtics and Lakers teams were in the 80s! We have names like Larry Legend, Magic, the Big Three…
Now, 21 years later, we have in Boston a new Big Three… I know, they have to win it more than one time in order to earn that name. But, have you heard that Defense win Championships?! For a Laker team that averages about 100 points in the post season and then was held to 88 points? This is huge. That shows why the Boston Celtics have been the best team this season. The way they play team defense, it is a thing of beauty.
And to think, Boston could have lost Paul Pierce – the Truth – in the third quarter. The Celtics played great basketball for the few minutes that Paul Pierce was out. Then the Garden erupted when Pierce reappeared. And he proceeded to make two key 3-pointers – back to back for a total of 15 points in the third quarter. That’s just great to witness. And Ray Allen, he was just silky smooth!
Bring on Game 2! It’s on Sunday night at 9pm EDT, by the way. Go Celtics!
